I found this online this morning and was impressed with the video library and how easily the stitches are explained.

When you are doing the embroidery stitches do you actually needle thru all 3 layers ..... seems awkward ...... do you use a "sewing " stitch or stab method (I usually do a sewing stitch when doing embroidery stitches - jill

Hi Jill,

Sometimes I sew through all three layers but not always. Yes if I am doing a larger stitch, no if its an outline or smaller stitch.
I have actually used a lot of whip stitching to applique with cotton thread like I'd use in my sewing machine. But if I do blanket stitch I go through all the layers and I am using a wool batting.

What is everyone else doing?

Thanks for the web site. Here is another one to use as a resource for stitches. www.inaminuteago.com. I would love to know how other people are doing this project. Batting or no batting? Any one tried it with no foundation and just sewed the pieces of wool together by machine to create your base?
